Maximus Jefferson Marshall, 7/8/11 @ 3:15pm, 5# 8oz, 18.75 inches!
We are so happy to welcome our new little Max to the Marshall family.  Ian is very proud to have chosen "Max" as his little brother's name and is also very excited to be a BIG brother!  Despite the complications and his early arrival, Max is now up to 6# 1.5oz and 19.5 inches tall, he's nursing like a mad man, and usually lets me get pretty good sleep at night!  I, too, am recovering very well and am beginning to wonder what I'm going to do with the next 10 weeks off.

Thought I'd share my Henna Belly with everyone.  I'm 33 weeks now and feeling rather plump!  My good friend Kym shared her art and feminine power with me by drawing me this tree, symbolizing patience and strength.  Aside from being tired, hot, uncomfortable, and moderately stressed about other affairs at the moment...I am in love with my belly and the baby to come!
Take a moment to think about the positives in your life...cuz through all of the complaints and bitches and negatives...there's so much to be happy and optimistic about...just smile!

Lots of News!

First things first...wait...that doesn't really work in this situation.  Let's go chronologically...

We finally sold our home and moved just 10 miles further south, to this nice little 1980's home in mid-November.  Upon moving, I traded in the Chevy Truck for a Subaru Outback (with a turbo) to save on gas money.  It took us a few months...probably until February...to feel at home in our new location.  Our list of improvements needed has gradually been decreasing as we get used to living in something other than a brand new home, we built with our own hands (we'll survive)!

We found out during our first week in the new house that we are expecting Baby Marshall #2!  Our big boy Ian turned 3 in December, and we spent the Christmas holiday in California.  Ian was very excited to find out, at our 20 week ultra-sound, that Baby is another boy...he can't wait to have a brother to play with and create trouble.  After a scare of placenta previa, Baby and Mommy have most recently been given a totally clean bill of health and the go ahead for a VBAC.  Baby is due 8/1/11, so we're hoping for a cool, uncomplicated summer.  Ian and Jared are currently battling over Baby Brother's name...lol!
It's been an incredible six months and I apologize for the lack of communication.  I haven't sent thank you notes, Christmas cards, little love notes, or any snail mail...this is not because I have forgotten about the kindnesses or important people in our lives...it's because I've lost my address book in the process of moving.  I keep thinking I will find it and send a big update to everyone...I'm finally calling 'uncle' and giving in to the idea that I need to start recreating it.  Please send me your addresses again!

Reno/Cali Trip

Is this panoramic of Lake Tahoe cool or what?!  We had such a good time staying with Kelly and her family!  We got a 'girls night' in, leaving her babysitting with 5 kiddos, and lots of other fun adventures!  Our little Ian continues to prove he's not afraid of anything!  By the third trip out on the boat in Redding, he was jumping, without abandon, off the bow of the boat...no assistance requireded.  It had been WAY too long since I'd seen uncle Mike and spent time with the whole Moran family...it was blissfully relaxing and wonderful!  Needless to say, we had a blast on our trip...just wish Jared could have been there with us.  Ian continues to grow like a weed developmentally and physically.  He's tipping the scales at a whole 37 pounds already...and, yes, he still has a HUGE cranium to go with his staunch little body.  Still no takers on the house.  Jared is getting good work and has some still out in front of him, so hoping this winter will be less scary than last. Jared's brother got married on 8/7 out in Kansas, and they are expecting their first child, and we celebrated our 7 year anniversary on 8/16 (no baby for us yet)!  Love to all, Ian sends sandy kisses from Lake Tahoe!

Avon Walk for Breast Cancer

Mom and I stayed in Keystone at the base of the ski resort on Friday night after checking in and getting some good "boobies" loot.  We got up early, ate breakfast standing up, cried through the opening ceremony, and were walking by 7am.  We completed the first 13.1 miles in 3.5 hours, walking from Keystone to Frisco, and stopped to eat lunch.  We then got ourselves back up to walking speed and managed to complete the second 13.1 mile trek in just 3.75 hours, walking up and back down 11-mile canyon...Mom says I'm tough to keep up with despite my short little legs.  This picture is Mom & I after completing the first day of walking...a whole 26.2 miles. It was taken before I took my shoes off...and discovered the blisters!!  After Mom & I got our tent set up and drank some Gatorade, I headed to the Medics' Tent to get my 4 blisters popped.  I tried to pass out on the nurse, so finished the popping while laying on the grass with my feet in her lap, then just laid there for a while.  We showered in "shower trucks", which were big semi-trailers filled with excellent shower stalls.  After showering we watched the Rocky Mountain wind blow other participants' tents across the ball fields we were tenting on (hilarious because it wasn't our stuff)!  We had dinner, then sat in the massage chairs which were set up with back and foot massaging apparatus (most excellent)!  The wind gradually died down, I went back for another popping session (no pass out threat this time), and we sat in the grass visiting with a very nice woman from the east coast.  What a beautiful location and day!  Turned in around 8 and I got up at 5:30 to beat other walkers to the Medics' Tent.  They had to do more blister popping, as they discovered I had blisters under blisters on my right heel (yay!).  They mole-skinned my left heel and made a reservoir around the blisters on my right heel and wished me luck.  We started walking at 7:30 for our last 13.1 mile jaunt, from Frisco to Breckenridge.  The morning medics suggested me stopping at every medic's tent, so stubborn me just kept walking.  We got to the lunch stop at the 9th mile around 10 and I cried 'Uncle.'  The balls of my feet were killing me from walking 9 miles on them and I had another blister on my left big toe.  I peeled off the walking shoes and resigned myself to my flip-flops for the rest of the day.  Mom continued on without me and completed the entire 39.3 miles, I got a ride and met her a block before the finish line with her lunch.  We walked across the finish line together around 11ish!  I later decided I probably could have finished the last 4 miles in my flip-flops...alas, hind sight is 20/20...and it would have taken me forever.  Mom and I hung in Breckenridge, talking to other walkers, drinking lots of fluids, and trying to find shade.  The closing ceremonies were incredible...the whole experience was incredible...despite my blisters, I look forward to doing it again.  Mom & I took a shuttle back to her car in Keystone and drove through Sunday afternoon I-70 traffic back to her house.  When we arrived, we discovered my truck had a flat (and I mean FLAT) tire, so we got to challenge ourselves just a little bit more to wrap the weekend up.  We met some amazing people, many survivors, and lots of tear jerking stories.  Warriors, supporters, and people who just love boobs walked together for 2 days to help raise awareness and hope for a cure for cancer.  I will never be the same!

My feet are still healing and I have a few muscles that are still sore...and I haven't had anything but flip-flops (or ice packs) on for 8 days now.  I didn't pre-register for next year yet...but that doesn't mean I'm not thinking about it already!  I've already had 3 others express an interest in walking with us next year.  Mom and I both reached our fundraising goals and consider the weekend a complete success, so thank you to all of you who donated and supported us!

Boobies everywhere are smiling and healthy thanks to you!

Moving forward...

With a tear in my eye, I'm posting the last picture taken of Mick. We lost him to kidney failure in May and our family is now 170 pounds lighter.  Ian misses him terribly and still talks about him a month later.  Jared and I have decided big dogs just don't live long enough, as he was just 6 years old.

On a lighter note, Ian continues to grow like a weed and learns something new every day.  We continue to work on potty training, though Ian decides when he wants to play that game and when he doesn't, he's quite the stubborn little guy.  He is loving daycare, is learning to count, sing his alphabet song, and lots, lots more.

Our home is still on the market.  We had some potential buyers who were very interested...until they came out for a showing following a gnarly afternoon rain and the roads were our lovely Elbert County slime...ewe...they decided they'd rather live on pavement (sissies).  We maintain hope that someone will fall in love with it soon!

Jared is practicing for bow-hunting season, which he keeps reminding me is only a few months away.  My mom and I are psyching ourselves up for The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer next weekend (June 26&27) here in our beautiful Rocky Mountains.  We have been training and are going to try to walk 39.3 miles from Keystone to Breckenridge over the two days.  Let's hope for good, mild weather.  Ian and I are planning a trip to Reno and Redding in mid-July to visit Kelly and her family then see the Morans.

Easter 2010

Easter evening with Great Gpa & Gma Louden, Ian couldn't resist snatching up G.Gpa's hat off the railing and taking it for a test run. Ian didn't even break the rattlesnake rattle on the band of the hat! We're so glad G.Gpa & G.Gma are back from Texas!!!
And who could resist this face? The Easter Bunny brought Ian some new glasses that he is totally in love with...and so are we...isn't he cute!?! He's 2+ and still hardly has any hair, maybe that's a sign he'll keep his hair longer when he's older.
And the Marshall cousins, ready to hunt for the eggs the Easter Bunny left at our house for them. They were quite challenged by the Easter Bunny's choice to hide them outside and enjoyed actually having to hunt for the eggs. Nicki, Ian, and Noah (left to right) discovered the Easter Bunny can be quite tricky when he hides his goods.
